about

Shall we start with Satie ? one member of Infantjoy said to another member - in fact, the only other member.
They played something by Satie, vaguely, slowly, appropriately tentatively, on a piano, and waited to see what happened. Eventually the notes were joined by a rhythm, and a journey started, and these Satie notes, and the accompanying rhythm, and attached effects created in a way that was both practical and mysterious, got given a title. This first piece, where some Satie notes blossomed into a piece of music that seemed to need a new title, was called 'Departure,' and it was the first piece of music written by Infantjoy, and the opening piece on what became an album. On this album, some piano notes taken from the time and place of Satie kept turning up in another time and place, known for a while only to Infantjoy, and gradually something that resembled the shape and length of an album emerged, and it seemed that the answer to the question "Shall we start with Satie ?" was yes. The answer, really, was 'let's start at the very beginning.'

So Infantjoy didn't start with Scott Joplin or Maurice Kagel or Cluster, although those names were on the short list, and may be returned to at some point in the future.
Has Satie been done to death ? thought one of the members of Infantjoy, or the other.

If that is so, and there is no real reason to think that this is the case, not considering all the things that should be considered, it would be interesting to hear what Satie's ghost has to say about that.
